Attendance

Regular Attendance

Your child's regular attendance is vital to their learning, both academically and socially. Please make sure that your child attends school every day unless they are too ill to do so. In 2022, the Department for Education (DfE) issued new guidelines for absences, which schools must abide.

If Your Child is Ill

If they are too ill to come to school, please telephone the school every morning (before 8.45) to tell us that they will be absent that day.

If Your Child is Late

Children need to be in school by the time the register is taken by their class teacher or they will be marked as late. Where children are persistently late (three times in two weeks), or consistently absent (dropping below 95% attendance), we have an obligation to formally write you a letter. If your child's attendance does not improve, we have an obligation to involve the local authority.

Please make every effort to make sure that children attend every day and arrive on time. Please refer to our School Day and Term Dates page: https://heberprimaryschool.com/parents/term-dates/
